As you do anything– dream, make wishes, love, time passes. This thought may not be a constant on everyone’s radar, but it seems that it is for James Blake. His music has the unique ability to evoke a haunting sense of ‘almost.’ Something like sand slipping through your fingers. That moment of wondering what could have been, what is, and what will be. And he puts it on pause. He breaks that moment out from the rest of time and slows it down to an ethereal pace. Then time as humans know it is thrown out the window.

The lyrics in his song “Overgrown” reflect the sentiment of his music as they repeat: “Time passes in a constant state.” But yet, in Blake fashion, it’s still entirely about love.
